christmas without expectations . . .

In a quiet way, unwind
Doing Christmas right this time.

— “christmas wrappings” by the waitresses, 1981

i had a lovely day yesterday. i did my stint in the hospital but was finished by lunchtime! the rest of the day was spent wrapping gifts [yes, i will be sending out a few late ones!], running around the neighborhood, listening to pandora’s christmas stations, and watching movies on demand.

charlie brown xmas was a family tradition growing up despite the fact that we don’t celebrate in the religious sense [if there is such a thing as lapsed judaism, i would say that describes my family fairly well!].

so nostalgic! [source]
our other family christmas traditions
✔ christmas music for pretty much the entire month of december
✔ annual blasting of “christmas wrappings” with traditional dance [what? it’s so catchy!]
✔ often a trip to the movies

we watched this one at home instead — i really liked it!
✔ takeout. indian or chinese!

last night’s official xmas eve dinner, thanks to china king
my sister even brought me an unexpected holiday gift:

supercute desk caddy from bigso box of sweden
and i celebrated the high-50s temps with a run:

pushing 26 weeks and showing it!
merry christmas to all — whatever your traditions may be!

Merry Christmas, Sarah! We watched Midnight in Paris last night too; It was enjoyable but Owen Wilson isn’t a very convincing actor, is he? 😛

Merry Christmas to you too! That’s a lovely baby bump. What a wonderful thing to be celebrating at Christmas.

You look fantastic! I am dying to start running again, but really it’s just a relief to walk 15 minutes without my back aching. And not waddle anymore – SCORE!
