good day!

top o’ the morning
monday morning, that is. i can smell the freshness of the new week (or maybe that’s just the surface cleaner i scoured the kithen with yesterday afternoon). no matter; all i know is that i feel ready for another work week — even one on call, i suppose.

i know i’ve written about this before, but somehow it didn’t make it into the organize tab. there is, in my mind, an official list of things that must be done before i can start off any work week feeling good about life.

the checklist
☑ laundry must be done (it does not have to be 100% put away, but clean and folded.)
☑ groceries must be shopped for
☑ weekday meals must be planned (the preferred routine)
☑ the fridge must be emptied of things going bad (a dirty job, but someone has to do it)
☑ the next week’s workouts must be planned
☑ the above meals + workouts must be added to the blog’s sidebar (not sure anyone ever looks at this, but it makes me feel better)
☑ the apartment must be free of random surface clutter
☑ outstanding bills must be paid
☑ any random errand (dry cleaner, post office, etc) must be run

whew. i’m a demanding boss! luckily this establishment’s sole employee [me] seems to submit willingly (perhaps even happily?) to her taskmaster [also me].

mill town
it is an extra-super-special-fantastic bonus if i finish all of the above things and get to spend sunday evening doing something fun. last night was one of those nights! josh and i had a blogger meetup double date with stevo and liv at mill town.

importantly, i got to break in my new scarlet & crimson wedges (which fully met my high expectations for comfort AND style!).

okay, maybe that wasn’t so important, but it added to my evening nonetheless. mill town was hopping! live music and and a busy outdoor patio scene set the atmosphere.

they have an incredibly long list of exotic beers, but sometimes i find it too overwhelming (i know josh does). so, we just stuck to what was on draught — still a wide selection of delicious-sounding options!

the sweet potato ale from durham’s own fullsteam brewery called out to me amongst the choices.

whoever designed their logo did an excellent job. i liked the subtle sweetness of this beer and was glad that it wasn’t too sweet-potato in flavor.

ugh, not so flattering. but you get the idea! our canine companion was much far more photogenic:

he was on his best behavior all night!

the food, as expected, was quite good:

veggie sliders with gruyere and avocado + sweet potato chips

josh’s bahn mi sandwich. true to form, i couldn’t get a picture without his hand in his fri(t)es!
it was a fun evening and i really enjoyed getting to know stevo and liv in person. i think a fall blogger bash is in the works . . . if you’re local, stay tuned!

coming tomorrow
another ‘tab’ post. i think the cooking page will be next!

workout: 10 miles SLOW! 9:34/mi average. i don’t know what was with me. maybe not having a race to train for has just made me stop caring about speed? except — fine, i admit it — i can’t help but have a little bit of disappointment when i see splits like that. oh well. i also did 30 minutes of super-easy, stretchy yoga.

board prep report: chapter 17 (metabolic disorders) + 10 PREP questions — check! fun fact of the day: if you see “calcified adrenal glands”, think wolman’s syndrome, a cholesterol metabolism disorder where extra lipids essentally get strewn all over vital organs.

How come you are the sole employee? Don&#39t you and josh share those responsibilties? What does he live in, a home or a hotel with a personal maid?

I always feel so out of sorts when I don&#39t grocery shop or do laundry on the weekends.

    Cute shoes!

anon: good point . . . i am not always the sole employee! this weekend i was because josh was at work/on call the entire time. i am completely understandign of this because i know what it&#39s like, having been there not all that long ago! trust me, i would much MUCH rather have had my weekend duties. and i will add that when he is off, he does a great job pitching in 🙂

all: thanks for the shoe love. they were a good sale find!

    I should make a list.
Those are ALL things that I would like to have done before the start of the week, but I rarely do!

    Btw: Shoes = adorable. 🙂
