lazy saturday
ahhh. lolling around on a saturday morning is wonderful. good thing i decided to push my long run until tomorrow! my rationale was twofold:

a) more time to finish recovering from tail-end of virus
b)
i mean, when would you prefer to be outside running 16 miles?

i slept a delicious 10 hours and woke up for the first time in days not choking on my own secretions. i guess yesterday’s recovery plan of tempo running + wine worked! note: i am not a good or compliant patient. let’s hope i never get sick for real!

spending all my money, honey
not really. but while on my moonlighting shift last weekend, i did promise myself that i could order something fun in exchange for the pain. so i did end up loading the skirt and top from yesterday’s post into my virtual cart at anthropologie. i no longer delude myself into thinking that it is all going to fit/look fantastic, but it’s easy to return things to the store, so i figured it was worth a shot!

i also happened upon this asymmetric looking french terry sweatshirt-type deal:

directional button-up

the comfort of a sweatshirt, minus the frump-factor? LOVE IT. i hope it looks good on!

brixx
brixx is a chain with 13 locations in tennessee, north carolina, and south carolina. i’m not normally into chains, but i have always been impressed with the interesting menu and ‘local’ feeling of our brixx branch in chapel hill. there is a lovely patio for outdoor seating during the summer, but last night wasn’t quite warm enough for that (though it was close). however, it was nice and cozy indoors. josh and i enjoyed a late dinner (9 pm) . . . at least until he practically passed out at the table.

their beer list is great! so many GOOD local brews, including my favorite triangle golden ale and the brand new big boss pumpkin ale. i like how there are descriptions of each as well. this is just a part of the list from their menu:

josh got the lonerider bootleg brown, which he liked. until it put him to sleep. i ordered a glass of pinot noir, shown next to this enticing picture of prosciutto pizza which lured us in just as planned.

pizza + wine = the best combination ever, as far as i’m concerned.

we ordered a salad to share and they brought it out on two plates, presented all nicely. sometimes i wonder if people at restaurants see my camera and go the extra mile, thinking that just mayyyybe they’ll wind up on carpe durham or something.

yum, spinach + roasted red peppers + pine nuts + goat cheese, topped with spicy-sweet chipotle dressing. i enjoyed the combination of flavors with my pinot.

brixx serves 10″ pizzas rather than full-sized ones. with nearly an entire pie left at the end, we probably could have gotten away with ordering just one, but we almost always pick two so that we can enjoy multiple flavors (and leftovers!). our picks this time were spicy shrimp and the aforementioned prosciutto.

“wood-roasted shrimp, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, Cholula® sauce, goat cheese and fresh basil”, according to the menu. we ordered this one with a whole-wheat crust, too. i wanted this pie to be saucier and zestier than it was. i should have asked for some extra cholula to put on top! and i didn’t really taste much goat cheese. nitpicking aside, it was still quite tasty.

prosciutto and pancetta with mozzarella cheese topped with fresh arugula and white truffle oil — well, that’s what they claimed, anyway. the top definitely had spinach instead of arugula, which is not quite the same. but the truffle oil was apparent and went well with the salty and flavorful prosciutto. this was my favorite of the two.

let the wild rumpus start!
other than going to see where the wild things are, i have no big plans for the day. this suits my mood — and the weather — perfectly.

I really like that anthro sweatshirt. But I wonder if I could pull it off?

I got my planner in the mail yesterday. Love the color (my school colors are orange and blue) and the size! Thanks so much for hosting an awesome giveaway!

The proscutto pizza sounds good! I would have prefered arugua too though. I wonder why it was served with spinach?

Re: the H1N1 vaccine, I got my first shot this week because I am in the first group to get it since I am on azathioprin. Hospital personel, kids and pregnant women got it this week too. Next week the general population will get theirs. However, only about 50% of the population plan to get their shot. So weird, when there are so many other places where people would LOVE to get it but can&#39t! I really think they would put you in a the first group since you obviously have a very high risk of contracting it and it is so important that healthcare workers stay healthy!

    Enjoy your long run tomorrow!
