catchup / some Friday faves

June 15, 2018

I feel somewhat caught up with life for the first time in . . . approximately 3 months!

IT FEELS GOOD.

This is not to say I don’t have numerous projects out there floating in some state of undone.  But at least I:

– know what they all are
– know where my hard deadlines are
– feel like there is a reasonable chance of getting things done within an acceptable time frame

I have just two charts to complete today, and essentially the entire day to focus on residency prep (very important because they arrive next week!).  I’m really excited to have a bit more time (an extra half day per week) to devote to this side of my job starting in July, as it has become clear to me that I need it.

I also have been working out regularly, eating reasonably, going to bed early, and flossing.  Josh AND I are off (no call) for the next two weekends!  Everything is feeling manageable and downright enjoyable.

PS: My Erin Condren planner pivot has been working out well for me.  A switch to a weekly (vs daily) view may be a permanent change for me – we’ll see.  I seem to be able to fit in everything I need.  I do miss the journaling aspect, but nothing is stopping me from keeping a separate journal.  OH – and I’ve been tracking my time this week!   Perhaps more on that later.

(Now how do I bottle these feelings up and make them last?)

Current obsessions:

1) Father John Misty’s new album God’s Favorite Customer.  Yes, he (Josh Tillman) is a weird person.  But I find him to be fascinating and this new album is also melodically addicting for me.

2) Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell.  I’m halfway through.  I literally cannot WAIT to pump today (while reading) because I am so obsessed with this book.  I feel like I figured out the big punchline halfway though but I sense there will be twists.  Excellent summer read (think – Girl on the Train type of book)

3) I am not someone typically obsessed with smells but my coworker had a diffuser on her desk with this scent and I literally went straight to order my own product in the same smell (I picked shower gel – practical 🙂 ).

4) Our new baby monitor has two handsets, one that goes upstairs and one downstairs.  We are like the only family NOT to use a video monitor (Josh was firmly against for some reason) and I have to say . . .it’s pretty convenient not to have to bring them up/down the stairs.

Aaaaaand with that, I am going to attempt the Plyo Fix for the first time.  (Wish me luck.)

Edited:  OMG that was hard.  Quads on fire.  HARDER than total body cardio / cardio!  Had to modify/slow it down.  But I do like having something to work up to.

We have never used a monitor of any sort! Our house is small, and wooden, so we can here our kids without them.

Are you still using a second small insert notebook? Or did you do away with that when you moved away from the hobonichi? Maybe using something like that as a bit of a bujo/journal might work for the days that you want to add more.

I”m glad things are looking up for you!

    No video monitor here either!

This gives me hope. Thank you!

Yay! It looks like there are three of us without a video monitor now! 🙂

We don”t have a video monitor either! I thought I would obsessively watch it if we did so I”m glad we went without.

Don”t you love it when you do a workout that is just right and you feel sore the day after. I always feel like I”ve finally accomplished something when that happens. Now if only I could be more consistent… I am super impressed that you”re able to do this almost every day. I keep telling myself that if I could make myself do five minutes every day that would go a long way, but it”s really difficult when I have to be at the hospital by 545. 😝
