31
well, it’s here.

and i have to say — it’s been an interesting year, y’all. 30 had its share of ups:

birthday shot taken in our soon-to-be former living room
♥ finishing residency and starting fellowship in a field i love
♥ discovering yoga
♥ a lot of contemplative time and [i think] valuable personal growth

. . .and downs:

☒ meds, lifestyle changes, and . . . still not pregnant [now almost 2.5 years off the pill, for anyone who’s counting]. and to be honest, every time i think of my new age i am reminded that i am now the age my mother was when she had me . . . 31 years ago today.

but whenever i start to feel sorry for myself, all i need to do is open my eyes to what is around me [SO much goodness, it’s beyond what i could have ever imagined]. including the fact that infertility itself has actually given me opportunities in life! because of this twist of fate, i’ve had more time and resources available to me than i would have otherwise. and so i’ve been able to grow and think, to enjoy the freedom of not working insane hours anymore, to start a yoga practice. i’ve been able to take care of my [insanely hard-working] husband, and we have had years together — just us — that i will value and remember forever, even when [NOT IF] our family finally does grow, one way or another.

i’ve also learned an important lesson about control: some things you just CAN’T! and it’s okay.

thank you all
for helping to make this ride just that much more fun. i absolutely love sharing my journey as i growing old[er] with all of you!

birthday gifts

from me:

massage + mani-pedi: an annual birthday event
———————————————————–

5.19.11

workout: 38 minutes elliptical, ~25 min weights plus a 75 minute yoga class at bp. [ahh probably too much for one day, but i did nothing the two days prior and really was craving that yoga!]

“YESSS meat!”

you know you’ve been cooking a lot of vegetarian dinners when the above is your husband’s reaction to chicken salad. in his defense, this CL version [made with organic WFstep 3” chicken] was pretty delicious!
