sunday routine
after reading about cal newport‘s sunday ritual, i wanted to share my own sunday traditions! you all know i’m typically a creature of habit and routine — and for the most part, i’m okay (even happy) with this.

cal’s ritual includes a late wake-up call, a trip to the gym (“hangover permitting”), a 3 hour study-fest, and a careful monday planning session.

while my relatives still like to refer to me as ‘in school’ (i’d be in the 25th grade!), my hangover-nursing sundays are (thankfully) over. so here goes my sunday routine . . . if you have one, i’d love to see yours!

sunday rituals: shubox style

what is this white stuff!?
normally, when we get snow it’s an event that people are buzzing about for days on before it actually happens. yesterday’s snowflakes were a sneak attack! a fun surprise for me since i was stuck inside all day (after rounding in the hospital) and it made my grant-writing seem almost . . . cozy.

thanks, mother nature!

off to do some of the above planning rituals, and then for my long run. it is going to be a cold one but i think today is going to be super-busy and it will be a fantastic feeling to be done before going in to round!

workout: 50 minutes on the elliptical, levels 9-12. sometime i think i’m the only runner who does not hate that machine! it is ideal for magazine reading, gives my joints a break, is a good cardiovascular workout, and goes by quickly when i break it up into intervals.

cuisine: well, it’s been sort of a lame weekend in the cooking/dining out department. priorities, i suppose!

grant report: so close!! i can see the finish line from here . . .

I don&#39t mind the elliptical either.

My Sunday routine goes something like this:
    • make breakfast
    • do various errands around the house (laundry, dishes)
    • go to the gym
    • nap
    • make grocery list
    • walk dog
    • go to grocery store
    • make dinner

My Sunday is normally very busy, because my Saturday is laid back. My routine looks something like this,
    Breakfast
    Gym
    Laundry
Head start ingredients prep for the week
    Clean refrigerator
    Clean apartment.

Totally wears me out by evening, but sets the tempo for the week!

Oh I&#39d prefer the epileptical …er…typo elliptical (but I just loved that typo).. over the treadmill any day.
I will be following you. Just so you know, hope you don&#39t mind.

Interesting Sunday routine! Mine would look quite different, since neither the gym nor the supermarket is open on Sundays. Still it might be a good idea to think about a good routine to start the week off well.

Also, I want to thank you for writing such an inspiring blog. You prompted me (together with some other blogs that I love) to start my own and also to order a space24 planner which I already love after a week of use.
