announcements
ahh, think back to high school. remember those all-important ‘announcements’ broadcasted in crackly lo-fi over the PA system each morning? things like, “tryouts for the production of guys and dolls will be held in the auditorium at 3:30 today!” or “the french club will be hosting their annual macaron-only bake sale today” (okay, not really).

hmm, it seems so archaic. maybe this practice has been replaced by an email or tweet! i’ll have to ask one of my patients.

oh my GOD i am old.

anyway. so onto the announcements! i’ll save the best for last. (don’t get TOO excited. this is not like jessica‘s recent announcement).

#1: introducing the breakfast challenge
i wrote about being in a food rut a few weeks ago. thumbing through my new cookbook, i was impressed with a number of interesting breakfast ideas. and yet,

day in . . .
and day out,
i pretty much eat the same variations on a theme. a tasty, but very repetitive theme. i would like to change this! as much as i enjoy this breakfast, i think i would appreciate some variety if i could just bring myself to make something else in the wee hours (i eat breakfast ridiculously early).

so next week i am going to explore the world of more exciting morning meals with a breakfast challenge! there are only two rules in this game.

a) i have to eat something different for breakfast each day

b) only one day out of the seven may be a variation on my standard theme

i am excited! of course, i have many of my favorite food blogs to turn to for inspiration in addition to my cookbooks. i think this will be fun and i will be sure to share the hits & misses of the week.

announcement #2: home is where the heart is
i am going to take part in the apartment therapy 20/20 home cure! unofficially, though, because signup is closed. basically, this is a 20-day program promising apartment bliss (and maybe inner peace?) at the low, low price of just 20 minutes a day.

i think this will be fun!

in 2011 I would like to run another half and full marathon and PR both of them. I would also like to improve my yoga practice.

I&#39m actually reading your blog while my high school students (I&#39m a Biology teacher) are listening to the morning announcements! They have definitely improved in quality. The TV production class puts on an impressive newscast, and the students then watch a national news program for high school students.

In 2011, I already have a long list (that I&#39m secretly already starting on…shhh don&#39t tell) but the most exciting thing would be that I&#39ll be graduating (finally) in May with a dual major in engineering (mechanical and electrical) Woop Woop!! Another just as exciting thing I&#39m planning is to start my own blog. I already have a ton of ideas for it that I&#39ve been scribbling on blank printer paper, so an organizer like this would be soooo helpful! 🙂

POST LOVE. LOVE the breakfast challenge (it&#39s my favorite meal of the day but I always eat the same thing) and the 20/20 challenge (my house SERIOUSLY needs it).

My biggest plan for 2011 is a secret 🙂 But I can definitely tell you that next year will include more races. I think you talked me into running the full 26.2 of the Cleveland Marathon!

  • Reply Alison March 10, 2019 at 7:24 pm

I can&#39t help you with breakfast – I eat the same thing every morning & love it 😉

2011 plan – Plan less! I am such a planner that sometimes I need to sit back, relax, and await to see what will happen!
