test time

October 18, 2010

here goes nothing!

hey, it’s test day!
russell-silver.

beckwith-wiedeman.

jarisch-herxheimer.

kayser-fleischer.

no, these are not dog breeds or handbag designers. they are just eponymic names for obscure(ish) pediatric disorders and/or associated exam findings. just a miniature taste of what (i think) i’ll be in for during the next 8ish hours!

i hadn’t planned to post pre-test, but it beats psyching myself out over flashcards or review questions. i figure if i don’t know it by now . . .

on the up side
there are something like 8 sites to take this exam across the united states today. the location where i will be whipping out my no. 2 pencil (yep, it’s an old-school test!) is essentially walking distance from our apartment (less than a mile). with a 90 minute break in the middle, i am SO going home for a relaxing lunch!

other things i plan on doing today that do not involve filling in bubbles
✰ finishing the informant
✰ lying on the couch
✰ getting in a workout — this weekend’s laziness was nice (totally weird, yet nice) — but now i’m itching to MOVE!
✰ (potentially) post-test trip to the mall . . . or perhaps just the local stationery shop i’ve been meaning to explore

this may be a bit fantastical (it is an 8 hour test, after all . . .) but i can dream, right?

the next time i post — it will be over!! the results aren’t available until january 15, either, so there will be no point in ruminating on things any further.

(and i’ll try to have something more interesting to talk about than an 8 hour/$2300 dollar l’il test.)

Yeah, good luck! You know you can do it!

I agree about outsourcing. I&#39ll outsource cleaning next year, but never, ever skip making wholesome meals for my family. Of course, we are pretty lucky where I live because the kids get cooked lunches that are pretty good, so we don&#39t pack lunches. In the US I would, though!

I also sleep less. I am a bit embarrassed about this, because I am not sure how healthy it is, but I used to average 8-9 hours and now I&#39d guess about 7 or less. But I feel good, and there is just not enough time to sleep so much anymore!
