beauty is pain time and $

sometimes just finishing is a victory

what a run! 9 very humid, sticky miles — check! in fact, it’s been quite a productive morning so far. accomplished thus far:

☑ the aforementioned long(ish) run. it wasn’t pretty, but it’s over. i could have done without the pro-life coalition screaming ‘abortion is murder!’ in my face and waving very grotesque posters at me as i ran by our local planned parenthood. i completely respect their right to demonstrate even if i do not agree with their views, but they were just a little aggressive this morning!

☑ roasting of an eggplant to make dip for tonight. i love how it implodes like that!

☑ a superquick, superficial cleaning of the bathroom

☑ half of the laundry

getting a lot done was essential this morning as i’m about to embark on a serious time-suck: the bi-annual 4-hour japanese straightening-a-thon. in order to have (relatively) non-frizzy straight hair without the use of an iron, i’ve been undergoing the thermal reconditioning/japanese straightening process for 3 years now. i’m totally addicted to the effect on my hair, but wish it would go faster! the salon i go to (there aren’t tons that offer it, and i’m afriad to stray from the tried and true) is 40 minutes away, so it’s quite the weekend ordeal.

to me, it’s worth it, even though i will part with my afternoon, many $, and i’m going to have flat, chemical-smelling hair for the next couple of days!

anyone else endure anything like this for the sake of convenience and . . . (fine) a little vanity? hopefully i’m not the only one!

tonight
i’m having a few former residents over for a casual pizza/wine gathering . . . should be fun!

workout: 6 miles on the TM, 9:30 – 8:57/mi, 0.5% incline; 30 minutes AM yoga. i will definitely be ready for a rest day tomorrow!
