overwhelmed?
i went to bed with to-do items swirling in my head. there were so many things that i decided to put off until my ward month was finished, and now . . . well, it’s over! however, we are going on vacation (beautiful, REAL vacation!) in just 4 days and it didn’t dawn on me until now that — well, that’s soon. as in, too soon to expect to take off with a completely DONE to-do list.
i could really use a week of vacation to get ready to go on vacation! since that’s not going to happen, i decided to TRIAGE.
my list isn’t any shorter, but i feel so much better! the little green book on there is for organizing on a day-by-day basis — something that becomes especially important when time is limited the way it is right now.
no matter how much needs to be done, you only live one day at a time. and there is only so much that can be done in each day! while taking time to organize isn’t always intuitive, i find that i function so much better when i’ve put thought into the best way to spend my time and energy.
today
will be busy. case in point:
7 am: board review
8 am: conference
9 am – 5:30ish: GI clinic
5:30 pm – 6:45 pm: workout + shower
7 pm: res council meeting
packed. but with nothing terrible on there! i will keep my HP promise to myself (there will be plenty of mundane to delight in today!) in mind.

5.24.10
workout: rest day
leftovers makeover: i transformed salmon leftovers form last night into sushi wraps (recipe adapted from this month’s clean eating magazine). salmon + avocado + wasabi = best combination ever in my opinion!
open:
reading: i spent 3 hours sitting on my butt working on editing a board prep handout for the genetics & metabolism section.
HP report: while doing the above, i channeled my HP resolution to just get lost in the task i was doing — and it did start to become more enjoyable! allowing for little breaks helped, too.
