i’ll get you, my pretties . . .

parade of shoes
for once, it wasn’t the pretty dresses and interesting tops that caught my eye in the newest anthro catalog. instead, i was distracted . . . by the shoes.

big platform clodhoppers? YES, YES, a thousand times YES!! i’ve been wearing (and loving) shoes like this for the past decade-plus, whether they were in style or not. being 5’1″ on a tall day, i don’t do flats, unless they are running shoes. if i’m dressed up, you can usually hear me coming from down the hall.

finally, it looks like the days of pages upon pages of crepe-soled ballet slippers are over and the CLOMPERS i adore are back!

just look:

tall grass platforms are pricey, but i love the color
hearthside wedges are a practical pair that look like they are going fast
the cherry juice heels quite literally make me hungry.
bette wedges i think would pair well with denim.
these eggshell wedges look slightly nautical to me
and finally, these bee flower wedges are just fun.

obviously i can’t have them all (i guess). but i think that after my last shift is over this week, one of these pairs is going to come home to me as a reward for making it through! and thinking about which one will help get me through the next 2 call nights.

push it
i think i’m going to survive — there are just two more! today is also a clinic day, which means a longer shift. tomorrow night will be the much awaited second local blogger event — can’t wait to reunite with some of my favorite triangle bloggers!

off to work . . . dreams of platforms dancing around in my head.

Q&A of the day
“i’ve always wondered . . . What was Josh doing before he went to medical school?

unlike boring me who went straight through, josh took a long and winding road to his current path to become a surgeon. it took me years to get it straight, but here goes:

■ graduated from duke with civil engineering/art history degree

■ taught high school physics for 1-2 years at a boarding school in perkiomen, PA

■ worked for raytheon for 2-3 years in DC doing computer programming

■ attended graduate school in computer science and received masters from U of Illinois, during which time he decided that he wanted to go to medical school

■ took post-bac classes at night and applied while in grad school, matriculating at duke med in 2002!

pretty amazing, huh?

workout: 30 day shred level 1 + 20 minute hip-opening yoga flow from yogadownload.

reading: none — i spent hours working on annoying paperwork for my NC medical license app instead. luckily, residency trains you VERY well to jump through hoops + fill out forms.

josh certainly has been busy! i&#39ve actually debated about teaching h.s. physics and working for raytheon as gap years before med school. how coincidental

and i think i would break both ankles if i wore any of those shoes haha

I&#39m not a shoe girl at all, but I like the orange/pink ones the best? Maybe? You should probably go with someone else&#39s opinion!

Josh is so cool!! haha. What high school did he teach at? It has to be super close to me! And he went to the University of Illinois as well? My home state! I appreciate Josh much more now. 🙂 Plus I think it&#39s awesome that he did lots of other stuff before going to med school…not that you have to do that to be amazing since you&#39re living proof, but just saying. 🙂

We get our own blogger meet up in two weeks, right? Still on?

I&#39m so glad that when I changed my career it did not involve going back to school for…forever. Go Josh!
