braving the elements

January 10, 2010

hi, i’m sarah
and i like to take my friends out for runs in undesirable conditions. luckily, they seem to be good sports about it (this includes kath and matt, and now cara)!

actually, i think was more affected by the sub-30 temps than my visitor from the north (and west) was; she headed out in capri tights and a long-sleeved running jacket, completely unfazed. a chicagoan for the past 8 years, cara was more impressed with the hills on my regular route, which i barely notice anymore. it’s all about what you’re used to, i suppose!

after our 10-miler (well, my 10 and her 3.5), we headed to bruegger’s to refuel, and then she drove her rental car back out to catch a flight to her windy city. it was so much fun having her here! we may not have done much (kind of funny, since i wrote this post about DOING just 2 days ago), but we ate fabulous food, talked up storm, and just relaxed.

she may have even convinced me to head to paradise anthro to see if i could find the kai coat (long sold out online in my size). ahhhh, what an enabler.

i hope 8 years doesn’t go by before we hang out again . . . i’m pretty sure it won’t!

sunday already?!
well, that weekend certainly went by quickly. i’m currently sitting around trying to triage the tasks i didn’t get around to doing over the past 48 hours. luckily, being on adolescent leaves some wiggle room in my schedule for errands like the grocery store and dry cleaning. so it’s just going to be sunday essentials tonight, which include:

☑ planning out dinners
☑ planning next week’s workouts
☑ finishing the laundry
☑ blog maintenance

plus some reading and a few leftover tasks from last week.

is there anything you absolutely canNOT start the week without doing? hopefully i’m not the only one with these sorts of compulsions.

Yes, the beet sandwich is one of my favorite triangle eats – yummy! So glad you tried it and liked it!

winter break is the only time where the days of the week mean *nothing* to me so right now i can start my week whenever i want.

usually though i find that i can&#39t start my weekend without doing laundry and grocery shopping and errands. let me tell you: i am such a hoot on friday afternoons. but i do this because sunday i like to relax and have no worries

I&#39ve never noticed the beet sandwich on Guglhupf&#39s menu, I&#39m going to try that next time.

I pretty much have to menu plan, lay out my workout & work clothes, weekly vitamins, and pack our lunches (leftovers usually).

    Sounds like a fun day.

My only Sunday night essential is making sure that I have food in the house for the week, specifically for breakfast. If I don&#39t have anything for lunch or dinner, it&#39s okay, but I don&#39t know what to do with myself if I don&#39t have breakfast foods!

I like to do laundry too. Well, I don&#39t like it, but you know.

Looks like you guys had fun together. No essentials before getting the week started, just making sure there is enough food and COFFEE in the house!
