welcome ali! here she is . . .
Hello ShuBox Readers!!!!!! My name is Ali from Food, Fitness, Fashion. I am super excited to be interviewed by Sarah today. I actually got to meet Sarah in person this past August the the Healthy Living Summit. We had a great time getting to know each other and had tons of fun! She is funny, smart and passionate! I hope we can see each other in person sometime soon. Miss you, Sarah! Ok…here goes the interview!

Blogging Related:
1. Why did you start your blog?
I read healthy living blogs for about 2 years before I started mine. I learned a lot from the blogs I read and their tips helped me shed that extra 30 pounds. I started mine as a way to give back to the blogging community that had helped me so much.

2. What is your favorite blog?
My favorite blogs are Carrots ‘N’ Cake and Healthy Tipping Point. I love both of these ladies because they creative, inspiring and have adorable pups!!! I guess we are all at the same place in our lives and I really connect with their writing. Plus they are super funny!

3. How do you keep readers interested in your blog? Especially if your blog is new?
I added a fashion element to my blog that I think people find to be a little different than other healthy living blogs. Also, I try to add in challenges and tips to keep people coming back. For example, January is Self Love Month on FFF and I am giving readers a self love tip everyday, it is really fun coming up with them and a great reminder to me to take care of myself 🙂

4. Have you found blogging difficult to keep up with?
Sometimes, I am super busy: working full-time, part-time, being in graduate school part-time, working out, planning a wedding- I have a lot going on. So sometimes it is hard to find the time. But I love blogging, so I always manage.

5. Has anything happened that was unexpected or shocked you as a result of having a blog? For example, negative feedback, new found blogger friends that live next door? really anything that didn’t expect?
YES! I found a bunch of friends! I also scored a great running partner. Julia is a reader that e-mailed me to meet for a run, we ran together once a week until the Holidays and I love having her as a running partner. Like all other bloggers, I have gotten some negative comments, and I try not to let them bother me, but sometimes it does hurt a little.

6. Do you have support of your family?
Yup! My friends, fiance and family read along just like all of you 🙂

7. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for 7 months.

8. How has your blog changed over the years?
HAHAHA! More like months- it had changed a little, I started blogging about everything in my life not just what I am eating and my workouts!

9.What new directions do you see taking it in?
I am not sure, I guess you will have to read on and find out!

10. What is your favorite ‘freebie’ that you’ve ever received?
GAH! This is soooo hard. I guess the Amazing Grass products, Pacific Soups and Popchips! I love all of these products and squealed with delight when they arrived at my door!

You and Your Healthy Lifestyle:
11. What is your favorite workout?
I love running and Body Pump. Yoga is a close second.

12. How often do you workout?
I usually work out six days a week, sometimes when life is really hectic I can only get in 5.

13. Have you always lived a healthy lifestyle? If not, What made you change you lifestyle?
GOD NO! I used to smoke. I actually smoked until a little less than 2 years ago. I also did not have the best eating habits. I just woke up one day and realized I was unhappy. I was far too young to be unhappy so I made the changes (you can read more about this on my “Meet Ali” Page here).

14. What is you favorite healthy snack?
I love greek yogurt and cereal, Clif Bars and most recently I have been loving to snack on Kashi Heart to Heart Crackers and low fat cottage cheese…perfect pre-workout snack!

15. What is your all time favorite food?
Whole Wheat Pasta with Marinara Sauce!!! Pasta has always been my favorite food!

16: What is your least favorite food?
Ham…too salty and it hurts my belly.

17. What is one kitchen appliance you can’t live without, besides your fridge?
George Foreman Grill and Blender!

18. What is your favorite thing to try?
I love to try new workouts and NEW BEERS! I looooove Beer!

Getting to Know you:
19. What are you wearing today? (Picture, please)
Black Thigh High Boots (Chinese Laundry), Denim Leggings (Forever 21), Plaid Tunic (Walmart), Black Long Cardigan (TJ Maxx)

20. What do you do for a living?
Well, I work full-time at Suffolk University’s Business School in the Dean’s office coordinating Assurance of Learning and Accreditation. I work part-time as a function coordinator at two function halls and I am a part-time graduate student (M.Ed. in School Counseling).

21. What are your favorite movies?
Empire Records and Mary Poppins

22. What are your hobbies?
Reading, cooking, baking, running, walking my dog (does that count?).

23. What trends are your fashion favorite this season?
Skinny jeans and tall flat boots, anything sequin, sparkly nail polish 🙂

24. What are your plans for 2010?
GETTING MARRIED to my high school sweetheart (7/10/10) and running my first half marathon!!!!!

aaaaaand we’re back (this is sarah again)
thank you ali for your enthusiasm, zest, and for inviting me into your blog, too. i am sure my readers could use a break from me from time to time. although i did see some juicy adolescent cases yesterday . . . ahh more fodder for next week.

PS: to everyone asking about flossing yesterday — YES i’ve been fairly successful with this since last year, hence leaving it out of my resolutions for the first time since . . . well, at least 2005. i may occasionally miss a day (or week) but in general it has become one of my regular habits. and it only took a mere 5 years to ingrain!
