gagalicous!
YES, we were there. NO, she did not wear pants. my overall assessment? it was pretty awesome!
this is not the first time i’ve dragged josh to a neighboring state for something this outrageous (the justified + stripped tour with xtina and justin timberlake back in 2003 comes to mind). i really do find lady gaga intriguing and fun, and since my days to do things this ridiculous are probably numbered, i figured . . . why not?
lady gaga sang (and sounded pretty good!), danced, and had bizarre performance-art type clips between each of her sets. her outfits were out-of-this-world intergalactic ensembles, and i know who i want to be for halloween now!*
thank to the zoom lens, i was even able to capture some of the fabulousness to share with the blogosphere! enjoy!
zooming around on a motorcycle
what are pants even for, anyway?
slightly classier
were our pre-show activities. we decided to take a cue from albert and headed to a swanky hotel for drinks and appetizers. this turned out to be a great move! we enjoyed a gorgeous and classy atmosphere and excellent food as well, without a huge bill or weighed-down feeling from tons of food — much better for dancing.
we chose the jefferson hotel, a blend of historic glamour and modern luxury (ooh, i like that tag line. they should hire me!)
the exterior
note the jefferson monument in the center. they certainly love TJ in this state!
coming down the stairs right outside the restaurant
amazing interior view from the balcony
for my pre-show cocktail, i chose the corpse reviver: grapefruit finlandia vodka, cointreau, and lillet blanc. it was icy and refreshing!
josh requested oysters. we loved the saltier ones!
shared appetizer of some fried green tomatoes that were to die for. i am not even going to try to put their deliciousness into words. just trust me!
another josh request: rabbit sliders on corn bread. i know, i know. but it was tasty . . .
there may have been a glass of champagne consumed somewhere in there as well. hooray for vacation!
running plans
so with all this vacation decadence, i am happy to say that there is time for running as well. my vacation philosophy is to stay active just as i am normally. running nerd and endorphin junkie that i am, i actually savor getting to do workouts under non-rushed conditions in interesting settings. i don’t like scheduling vacations to the point where there is a time crunch, but if necessary, sneaking in runs is best done in the mornings — my favorite time to get miles in these days anyway.
sunday i did a quick 5 miler before we left for our trip
yesterday i did an elliptical workout at our hotel gym (very nice, by the way!)
today josh and i may hit some local trails
tuesday
it feels absolutely surreal that it is tuesday and people are hard at work right now. i’ve got to get off of the computer — the time is already going by too fast!
* that is, if i weren’t working the overnight shift in the ER that night. sad!

If I had legs like that…I might not wear pants either.
Check out those yellow heels!
youre working halloween? so sad! but you should wear a gaga outfit while at the er. that would be hot haha
But what did YOU wear?
so we lived in c'ville for 6 yrs…where is that hotel?
My Mom grew up in Richmond and her mom used to take her to the Jefferson to see the live alligators that used to be in the lobby!
