unprepared

June 15, 2009

am i the only one this neurotic?
ideally, before the start of any new week, the following tasks are accomplished:

☑ laundry: washed, folded, put away
☑ recycling taken out
☑ dinners planned out for the week
☑ groceries shopped for
☑ fridge purged of expired or wilted items
☑ runs/workouts all planned out

if i’m really going for the gold,

☑ bathroom is cleaned
☑ all linens are changed
☑ dishwasher is empty

unfortunately, in residency — for that matter, in life — conditions are not always ideal. and this week’s circumstances (coming off of 20 days of night float, or example) are no exception. i have to admit that i get a little on-edge thinking about having to make a grocery trip during the week or run a load of laundry. however, as i write that, i realize how crazy and inflexible it sounds, and i’m going to have to just deal. i am not going to let it ruin the warm fuzzy feelings i have about not being on call for the next 2.5 weeks.

upcoming excitement
despite slapdash preparations, i think this is going to be a good week. after all, boot camp (ie, me dragging josh out for early morning runs) starts tomorrow! there are also a few fun social events coming up — it’s time to take advantage of the long days and balmy nights. i feel sort of like i’ve spent the last few weeks in a hole, crawling out only for solitary runs during the day and to work at night. that is of course an exaggeration, but still, there is something to be said for heading back into the conventional day/night pattern.

i’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

6.13.09

workout: 9 miles, average 9:21/mi pace. finishing temp was 85 with RealFeel of 102, as mentioned in yesterday’s post. it was rough. i had planned to run (and shred) today as well, but just felt like my body needed a break.

reading: none last night! but i’m about to do a little cardiology cram session.

I&#39m the same way. Not only will I be really annoyed if a chore is left undone Sunday night – clothes still in the drier, meals uncooked – but it then definitely, barring an act of greatness, won&#39t get done. If it&#39s being neurotic, it&#39s only like, 35 percent neurotic.

Finally catching up on your blog. You are doing beautifully on your runs while working so much! Good luck to Josh as he joins you. 😉

Love the Anthro dress, but I hope you also go those blue sandals!

I think life goes much smoother when things are planned! I like to have things in order before the week starts, or at least have a plan as to when things will get done. Example: Wednesday is laundry day. Or something like that.

I need to work on a weekly menu and shopping list to be more organized. I really think it helps with buying food and cuts down on time during the week.
