blogging from bed
in spite of my perennial ‘new rotation!’ anxiety, night float actually felt quite easy. it was a relatively uneventful night; we had just one admission (endocrine! my favorite!) and a couple of phlebotomy escapades throughout the night. in the end, though, all necessary labs were obtained, the patients did fine, and i got a few hours of sleep out of the deal.

i think finding a circadian happy medium is going to be the biggest challenge of these night float weeks. my body is already confused at having to take sleep in small snack-sized portions. but anything beats 30 hours in a row, so i’ll take it! i did feel much more alert at night (and even into the next morning) than i normally do on a traditional full-length shift. whether this is because of the different schedule OR just because it’s the beginning of the month and i’m rested . . . i’m not sure. i guess only time will tell.

i’m going to sleep for a few hours now and then run . . . and then josh and i will go out for an anniversary dinner. yes, our marriage turns 3 years old today!

and on that note
it seems appropriate to show some scenes from the big day (originally shown in this post). despite the fact that our first three years of marriage have contained nearly 5 years of residency (3 for him, 2 for me), the time has been incredible. knowing that i have josh to come home to makes even the worst day 8 million times better. always! i still feel so lucky that we found each other. okay, i will save the rest of the sappy things i have to say for non-public conversation.

vowing

cake time [side note: our cake was lemon with whipped cream and raspberry filling and was obscenely delicious]

so happy!

workout: 40 minutes cycling (14.4 miles on stationary bike, HR 150s-170s) + shred level 2.

doin’ time: there’s no way to know for sure, but i bet i had the best on-call dinner in the entire hospital last night:that’s homemade dijon vinaigrette in the bag, in case you’re curious. it’s amazing how such ‘good things’ really can improve a call night. at least for me.

Everything about this post is wonderful! I&#39m glad that this rotation is getting off to a good start, your wedding photos are beautiful and I love the salade niçoise! (Especially since I think salmon > tuna!)
