party of one

December 20, 2008

i seriously hibernated yesterday. clinic was a ghost town, so i finished work quite early (perhaps a new record!). the pediatrics department holiday party was initially a part of my plans, but having josh on call, needing to work all weekend, and still being on backup (with multiple residents still sick!) put a damper on my party mood, and i didn’t feel like driving alllll the way back to durham again (we’re a whopping 15 minutes away!) just to stay for a hour or so. instead, i read some murakami (the wind-up bird chronicle really is excellent!), had some much-needed catch-up with a friend in california, and watched both manhattan and, um, the sisterhood of the traveling pants. don’t judge, but i think i cried at least 4 times during the latter.

i had forgotten how good this movie is: such a classic.

i loved this — it’s this generation’s now and then!

i also had gingerbread and frozen yogurt for dinner and was asleep by 9 pm.

pretty much, it was awesome.

today i start an 8-day stretch at the community hospital NICU. it shouldn’t be too bad, and actually 4 of the 8 days won’t be terribly long, including today. i just get nervous every time i go over there, envisioning one worst-case-possible scenario after another. hopefully it will be an uneventful week.

today’s plans
☑ work 7 am – noon (or maybe even earlier — dare i hope!)
☑ 10 mile run – outside if it’s not raining, or at the gym if it is
☑ yoga!
☑ laundry
☑ plan california airfare
☑ work on next year’s vacation/schedule requests
☑ buy (online, of course) remaining necessary holiday gifts!
☑ make very belated doin’ time prosciutto-wrapped chicken for dinner
