i am going to:
★ focus on one thing at a time
★ concentrate on now, rather than later
★ enjoy taking care of patients
★ experience the only november 11th, 2008, that i will ever have.

as you can probably tell, things are getting challenging and i am getting tired. someone anonymous reminded me of my mindfulness quest after my whiny post from 2 days ago, and i am glad they did. call is a struggle, but the rotation is finite, and everything will be better if i just take it one day at a time and try to get as much out of it as i can.

workout: an easy post-call 4 miles at 9:13/mi pace (0.5% incline). i had planned to do weights too, but it was late and i just wanted to go home, so i did. i think i am going to cut myself some slack and not worry about strength training for the next 2 weeks. i don't really enjoy it and would rather have that time for something else, like sleeping.

cooking: i made super-easy pasta with prosciutto and spinach from october 2008 cooking light. it inspired last night's post, of course (and yes, josh really did say that).

The pasta, prosciutto and spinach looks delicious. I think taking things one at a time helps reduce stress and helps to accomplish all you need to.

Mindfulness is difficult. And especially when we get stressed, tired or (in my family at least) hungry. And those are the times we need it the most. It is a challenge, but you seem to be doing great.

I make a very similar pasta with prosciutto and spinach, but yours look better. I need to add the pine nuts to mine! A little white wine brings out the taste too, I think.

For some reason, I keep leaving my asparagus in the oven too long. Yours look lovely and bright. Also, I love prosciutto.

  4. that pasta looks so good. definitely cut yourself some slack and don't feel guilty about it!

  5. hang in there lady! definitely try to enjoy yourself here and there <3

  6. I am also working on being more mindful, positive and appreciate. It can be especially hard when, like you, there is soooo much going on!
