neuro
day 1 of neuro went well! clinic was manageable but interesting, and during some downtime in the morning we got to tour the EMG (electromyography) lab to see what happens to kids when you order them to be poked and shocked to test out peripheral nerves/muscles. i didn't get shocked, but the intern volunteered as guinea pig and i don't think it was particularly pleasant. i think it's cool to get some experience with the diagnostic tests we often order, so we know what the patients are getting into and can warn them and their parents! just don't ask me to undergo a VCUG!

new year!
not only was yesterday the start of a new rotation, it was also the start of the jewish new year. i am a very reluctant jew in the sense that i am sort of anti-religion in general (aaaaaand that's a whole other post that is not getting written this morning), but i will make exceptions for any holiday that simply involves delicious food, friends, and celebration.

as promised, some pictures . . . we had a great time!

my best running friend and her awesome husband, who threw this shindig

josh and me -- don't ask what my hair is doing

apples & honey for the new year

my loaded plate! clockwise from top: potato kugel (noodle goodness), salad, grilled chicken, potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, and challah in the middle. YUM.

josh with his 'devouring' face, attacking the apple crisp i made

and finally, 2 pics of rolf, the cutest and sweetest dog i know:

today
i get to go to the eye center to work with anesthesia and attempt some intubations. WISH ME LUCK (yes, i need it.)!

Thanks for the photos - I love learning more about the Jewish holiday food traditions. I just got a cookbook called "Hip Kosher" too.
