7 to go . . .
call really wasn't too bad last night. but even though we didn't have a single admission, covering 20 sick babies proved challenging enough that i only managed to sneak in a whopping 60 minute nap with head on the desk at our workstation. when i was awakened with the result of an ugly blood gas at 4:40 am, i almost felt refreshed until i realized that my legs were both completely asleep and i was temporarily paralyzed.
ok, not really paralyzed. but i don't recommend sleeping in a chair.
on the up-side, i think i did a good job staying calm and having good interactions with nursing and our fellow all night. on the down, rounds still sucked. i am just NOT coherent on my 26th hour of work (fine, 25th if you subtract the nap, i suppose). i'll keep working on it.
SHORT day tomorrow! i can't wait! about to make a tempting-looking salad for dinner and then cccccrash.
