more me time

July 5, 2008

i’m not usually this antisocial, i swear. but somehow it seems to be my destiny to spend this weekend hanging out with me, myself, and i (plus josh when he is home from work). looking back, it would have been a good weekend to take a trip somewhere, but i’m still enjoying the time at home.
yesterday i spent some quality time with both the current elle magazine and also a prayer for owen meany. my GOD, does elle make me want to shop! the great divide between how i dress and how i WISH i dressed just seems to be getting bigger year after year. if we could just sell our house, i’d feel better about spending a little more on clothes, but for now i’m pretty much destined to the sale rack. i haven’t bought a pair of jeans in over 2 years (!!). (i have, however, spent 8 jillion dollars on my hair and orla kiely merchandise. so i should probably shut up now, but whatever).

le sigh. i probably just shouldn’t even look at elle, and that way i would be content sitting around in faded gap clearance items circa 2002.
(i like these and the higher rise which is in these days. maybe if our house would sell . . .)

7.4.08:

run: the tempo workout described in yesterday’s post (5.8 miles total, 2 x 1 mi + 2 x 0.75 mi segments at tempo pace)

reading: i decided to switch it up a bit and did 45 minutes of online prep questions for the in-service exam i have to take next week

restaurant experience: we went to brixx and it was nice and relaxing to sit outside. their pizza is good — we shared a chicken/spinach/tomato/mozz — and i tried a triangle belgian-style golden ale from a local brewing company. we also ate tiramisu which was not espresso-soaked enough for us but was still delicious.

Hey Sarah! Sounds like a nice break of a weekend for you and a great time to visit new stores and restaurants…or make some guc!!

I think everybody needs “me” time. The gap between how I want to dress and how I do dress gets bigger every year too. Banana Republic is my weakness, I love 99% of their stuff.

Did you go to the Brixx at Meadowmont? I think it is cute there.

    Good luck on your test.

jessica no earthshattering restaurant experiences this weekend, sadly. but next weekend josh and i will probably try something new and exciting.

d10: i love banana too although i would say my 2 favorites are anthropologie and benetton. and yes brixx in meadowmont. we sat outside, and it was cute. as for my test, i don’t have to pass or anything (it’s more to gauge progress) although it would be nice to do better than last year so that i can officially show that i learned something 🙂
