life: it’s great while it lasts

June 2, 2007

i can’t believe it’s june. it’s a new month, and a VERY big month for me. i have to somehow make the transition from Desparate Housewife/Kaplan Groupie to Terrified Intern*. every time i get as much as a glass of wine in me i start wailing about how scared i am, which means that it is actually something buzzing in the back of my head ALL THE TIME these days, only to be let out in public when inhibitions are low (or, i’m posting online. hmmm). fortunately, there will be a few fun distractions along the way to dull the glare of my impending doom: the williams reunion, for one. next week i am going to be road-tripping with two of my best college girlfriends all the way up to williamstown (yes, for the second time in 3 month. what can i say?). i am already very excited!

i am also in the process of revamping my wardrobe, thanks to some extremely generous donors (THANK YOU!) and also to kaplan, which has actually bankrolled me quite nicely this summer. however, i have already gone on at least one completely fruitless shopping trip, arriving at the mall full of ideas and hope and leaving with absolutely nothing. why must everything be empire waisted these days? i want to look chic and now and fabulous, and ‘first trimester’ doesn’t exactly project any of those things.

plans for today: baking frenzy — banana pudding! red velvet cupcakes! mac ‘n’ cheese! cheddar/jalopeno cornbread! salad (HA, so we can pretend we are not trying to kill our guests with saturated fat. but, we are.) this is a gathering for josh’s intern class. can you tell that he planned the menu?

plans for next week:
• getting an NC license and inspecting my car
• shopping, take two (i realized i cannot embark into the world of today’s styles alone)
• hiring someone to put quarter rounds into our house
• williams reunion trip!

* assuming my step 2 CS scores come back in time. and yes, i’m still dwelling on this.
