it ain't over 'til . . .

well, it's basically over. my indulgently long vacation, that is. and amazingly, i think that i'm ready. i feel well-rested. i'm actually missing feeling productive and busy, and i miss my normal routine, whatever that was.

i start back tomorrow, even though i had planned on waiting until monday. some lab (just a meeting and procurement of some new cells to work with), some kaplan (some sort of 'mcat day' thing that i stupidly agreed to come to), and some attempts-to-restore-normalcy-and-liveability to our house, which as been uninhabited for quite some time now.

goals for this weekend, starting tomorrow:

1. organize lab data still sitting around and formulate a concrete plan for next week's experiments

2. clean bathrooms and do remaining laundry from our trip and pre-trip, including re-prepping the guest bedroom (despite no guests in the forseeable future, it's always better to be ready)

3. restock fridge and plan out dinners to make for next week as well as lunch ingredients -- i can't be ditching my resolutions just yet

4. put together presentation for next week's pharm seminar

5. prep for next week's kaplan sessions (teacher training, mainly, and a class!)

6. hopefully hang out with rebecca -- maybe saturday night?

in other news, my career as a worldly traveling scientist will kick off with a trip to glamorous williamstown in march (not peak season, but i wasn't offered a choice). i didn't do anything to deserve it, so don't get too excited. i just got selected as a 'biochem/mol bio scholar' alumnus who actually ended up pursuing one of these fields (read: graduate dumb enough not to get a REAL job). but they're flying me up and everything, so it's still somewhat cool. plus, i will get to visit my favorite ever coffee shop (which betrayed me by moving, but still has good coffee). unless there's a blizzard.
